Importing Your Pet to Australia

Australia has some of the strictest quarantine requirements in the world so your pet needs to be thoroughly prepared before it's trip down under. A stay in one of Australia's three Quarantine stations is compulsory for pets arriving from nearly all countries (except New Zealand). When your pet has finished Quarantine you are likely to need it transported to your new address in Australia.

What makes Petflyers unique is our ability to take care of all your pet's transportation arrangements and government requirements at both ends of your pet's journey to Australia. We offer the following services to customers (in most countries);

1. Provision of Import Permit and Payment
2. Booking and payment for Quarantine arrangements
3. Provision of crate for your pet to travel in
4. Transfer your pet to your local airport and lodge it on the flight to Australia
5. Organise transfer to Quarantine station upon arrival in Australia
6. Transport to final destination in Australia after Quarantine period has finished

All you will need to do is take your pet to the vet to get the necessary tests and vaccinations done. We can advise you about what veterinary procedures your pet needs and even which vets in your area are qualified to issue export certificates.

For this level of service you would probably expect to pay more than if you were using a local pet transportaion business in your home country and booking the quarantine in Australia yourself. But customers in most countries will find our costs are actually less. This is because our margins are in Australian Dollars, which are much cheaper than Euros or Pounds for example.

To further reduce costs we offer our customers the option of doing some of the steps themselves such as taking their pet to the airport and lodging it on the flight to Australia. Naturally we give detailed instructions on what to do and where to go etc.

To prepare your quote we will need the following information:
  1. Where you pet is travelling to and from
  2. When you want your pet to travel
  3. What type of pet(s) you have including their age and weight
  4. For large dogs we will need their height (head to ground) and length (nose to base of tail)
  5. Whether you have started the necessary veterinary procedures
  6. If there are any steps you wish to undertake yourself (eg taking the dog to airport)
  7. Your contact phone number and email address
